I'm James Phillip Arnold and I'm a Wedding Photographer based in Leeds, West Yorkshire. I provide a stress free, fun filled wedding photography experience that allows you to truly enjoy your day (and the resulting photos!)

My style of wedding photography would be best described as bright, colourful and clean. On the day, I provide a photojournalistic approach to the main elements with a combination of beautiful creative portraits thrown in to produce a modern but timeless collection of images.

I truly believe that this approach helps to tell the story of your wedding day in an authentic and visually stunning manner.

Meet  James

Shortly after I started studying photography I realised that it was something that allowed me to combine everything I loved into one creative form. I began taking my camera to gigs and taking photos of the bands performing. I then realised this is how I would involve music in my life and career.

I had found my passion and from that moment on there's been nothing else i've wanted to do.

Me & my Grandad making something in his garage

Lincolnshire born and bred, I grew up in a small village just outside of Lincoln. From a young age I knew I wanted to spend my life working in a creative field. I loved art, I loved music and I loved making things.

Music has always been my first passion and I knew growing up that I wanted to be involved in music one way or another. Sadly for me, i've not been blessed with the best rhythm so playing an instrument was out of the question!

After going through school and still not really knowing what direction I wanted to take my life, I decided to go to college and study business studies. Alongside business, I wanted to study graphic design as it was a subject I excelled in, however the timetables clashed and this meant I had to choose another subject. I was given a few different options and in the end I settled for photography, not really knowing much about it. Little did I know that taking that course would have such an impact on my life!

Where It All Began...

Although my love of music drew me towards music photography, what I found was that I really enjoyed photographing events and I felt that my skills in music photography would be transferrable into other areas, such as wedding photography.

Rihanna performing at the O2 Arena in London. Shot for Q Magazine.

Whilst at college I began working for music magazines like NME and Q Magazine, taking photos of musicians like Rihanna and Coldplay. I also started working with various record labels and subsequently found myself working directly with artists, most notably Kyle Minogue and Ellie Goulding - One of my photos even ended up on the cover of Ellie's single 'The Writer'!

As much as I love Lincolnshire, most of the work I was getting involved me travelling to larger cities, especially London, Manchester and Leeds.

With that in mind, in 2014 I decided to move to Leeds as it's perfect for travel, it's a fantastic city and it's in Yorkshire! What better place to live?

From One Shire To Another

Jessica & Benny

As it happened, I was right, my skills were perfectly transferrable and if not more suitable for weddings!

I photographed my first few weddings in 2010 and i've shot many more since then. I really enjoy the whole experience of wedding photography. There's something special about capturing the love that two people have for each other. It charges you with excitement, energy and creativity; almost like adrenaline.

What I enjoy most of all about weddings is that they're FUN! For me this is what the day should be - a fun celebration, full of joy, laughter, emotion and most of all, love. All of these elements are what I love to capture in my photographs and I feel truly grateful that couples trust me to tell their story.

I genuinely care about every couple I work with and every wedding I photograph. To me the couples I work with are not my clients, they're my friends and that's how I treat them from the moment they contact me to our ongoing relationship years down the line.

My First Wedding

Penny & I after visiting The Water Mine in Ronda, Spain

It was also in Leeds that I met my beautiful fiancé Penny.

After dating for a short while we decided to buy a lovely little terraced house together and it's absolutely fantastic having our own home.

Moving to Yorkshire and meeting Penny has really made a tremendous difference to my life and I couldn't be happier!

Photography has been such am important part of my life and I'm so thankful that I've found a career that I'm truly passionate about. Long may that passion continue!

Any other questions? Just ask!

If you could it would be greatly appreciated. Weddings can be quite tiring so it's important that I keep my energy levels up!

Do we need to provide you with a meal on the day?

I am indeed.

Are you fully insured?

I do indeed. I bring multiple camera bodies and have backups for everything.

Do you have backup's with you?

Anyone who knows me will know I'm a softy at heart, so there have been times where i've been trying to hold back the tears. Weddings are full of emotion and I think that's why they're so lovely to document.

Do you get emotional during weddings?

I can! Please get in touch and I shall recommend you some super talented people.

Can you recommend a videographer/band/florist…?

I'm a Canon man myself.

What cameras do you use?

Many people have a bespoke book made for guests to sign on the wedding day, or perhaps have a print framed for signing. Others have used a framed print as gifts for parents or had a canvas wrap for their own home.

What do we do with the images from our engagement shoot?

Almost anywhere you like! I like to shoot in places that are meaningful to you but i'm also happy to suggest places if you’re feeling a bit stuck. For certain locations I may ask that my travel expenses are covered.

Where can we go for our engagement shoot?

After you’ve selected which images you’d like in the album I will personally design the layout in the best way possible to tell the story of the day. I will then email you a proof to look over and approve before I send everything to my album supplier.

How does the album design process work?

As many as you like! But I recommend starting with around 60 and going from there.

How many pictures can we have in the album?

I currently offer Folio albums. These handmade fine art albums are produced right here in Yorkshire and i'm proud to be able to supply them to my clients. You can find out more about the albums

What kind of albums do you offer?

Your photos will be backed up and kept safe but I am legally responsible for them for 12 months from the wedding date. So please make sure you make all your image selections as soon as possible after the wedding.

How long do you keep the files?

All the images from your wedding will be put into your personal online password protected gallery where your friends and relatives can view the images, order prints and access digital downloads if they just want a photo for their Instagram!

Do you have a web gallery for friends and family to purchase prints after the day?

Absolutely! All the photos on the USB are hi-res, fully edited and ready to print. I will give you a list of places I recommend for quality printing.

Can we make prints from the USB of hi-res images?

You will own joint copyright to all photos on your USB. This allows me to use the images for my website, marketing, etc but you are free to print, email and upload to Facebook as you please!

Who owns the copyright to our wedding photos?

Where will you travel to shoot a wedding?

I love travelling and seeing new places so i'm happy to travel anywhere!
For destination weddings I ask that all travel expenses and accommodation are covered. For UK weddings I only ask that 2 nights accommodation is covered if I am travelling more than 2 hours from Leeds.

I usually tend to finish taking photos around 10pm but if your wedding is fun i’m bound to stay longer! I LOVE fun weddings!

What is the latest you will stay on the wedding day?

I do indeed. To secure a booking I require a signed contract and a 50% deposit. The remainder is then paid no later than a month before the wedding date.

Do you require a deposit for bookings?

Certain dates are more popular than others and it’s always best to secure your photographer as early as you can. Bookings can be taken up to 2 years before the wedding date but if i'm available, I'm also happy accept last minute bookings.

How far in advance of the wedding do we need to book you?

You can indeed - please see my client testimonials

Can we see what some of your previous clients have said?

Of course. I think these are important pictures but I always suggest limiting group shots to maybe 5 or 6 groups so that we can do these quickly and not interrupt the day for more than 15 minutes or so. I always aim to get one group shot of the couple with all the wedding guests together.

Do you take any family group photos?

Your online gallery will be ready for viewing 4-5 weeks after the wedding, with your USB delivered to you shortly after.

When can we see our pictures?

Either fill in my contact form or send me an email with as many details about your wedding and i'll get right back to you.

What's the best way to get in touch?

Leeds, UK but i'm happy to shoot all over the world!

Where are you based?
