Gemma & Jay’s November Wedding took place at the wonderful Swancar Farm in Nottinghamshire on Bonfire Night. Considering that most Bonfire nights I can remember have included awful weather and freezing temperatures, Gemma and Jay seemed to have hit the jackpot on their wedding day! The sky was a beautiful clear blue with sunshine casting beautiful light across the Nottinghamshire countryside.
Both parties stayed at the nearby Breadsall Priory the night before the wedding, waking to a beautiful sunny day and a tasty fried breakfast. Everyone proceeded with their initial preparations for the day, including the Bride and Bridesmaids hair, before travelling to the wedding venue for final preparations. This also meant that Gemma was able to have a wedding car (her Dad’s Audi!), even though the entirety of the day took place at the same venue.
The venue is in a beautiful location, set amongst vast fields. It almost feels like you’re in the middle of nowhere – especially when you start travelling down the near mile-long drive to reach the place! Once everyone had arrived, it was time for some more Champagne and for the girls to have their makeup done. During this, I took the time to go and photograph the venue, along with all the little details that Gemma and Jay had included in their wedding. One such detail was a beautiful Fudge stand, complete with Toffee Apples and sparklers for later in the evening!
Once the ceremony had taken place we took a short time to get some lovely group photos, taking shelter in the courtyard as a chilly breeze had picked up. Later in the day, I took Gemma and Jay aside for some beautiful portraits as the sun was starting to set, resulting in an almost harsh light casting across the landscape. This worked really nicely and created some striking shadows in the images!
Once the remaining daylight had gone, I ushered the entire wedding party and their sparklers outside ready for a photograph. As Gemma and Jay didn’t have confetti after their wedding, they had decided to recreate the confetti photo with sparklers instead! This was a lovely touch for their Bonfire Night wedding and it resulted in some great images!
Later in the evening the ever talented Magician James Kirman showed up to blow a few people’s minds with some amazing magic tricks – along with some slightly x-rated tricks too! Some of the guest’s reactions during his tricks were priceless. At this point, the evening had really started to pick up the pace and the atmosphere on the dancefloor was full of fun energy. This is what I LOVE at weddings! To Gemma & Jay’s surprise, a secret Flashmob had been organised and all guests headed to the dancefloor with cardboard cutout’s with Gemma and Jay’s faces on. They then proceeded to dance in sync leaving Gemma and Jay amazed!
Overall the wedding was brilliant fun and it was certainly a day to be remembered. Please take a look through all of the photos below and feel free to leave a comment!
